Job Overview:
The Solvay Composite Materials GBU is seeking a Research Scientist/Engineer to join its Strategic Technology team in Piedmont, SC. The Research Scientist/Engineer will work in a cross-functional environment developing and advancing platform technologies for carbon fiber composite materials. The position will be focused on horizon 2 and 3 research and involves identifying, exploring and developing new technologies that can be matured and transitioned to product development teams. Initial focus of individual will include the areas of predictive modeling and advanced constituent characterization. Establishing and maintaining external collaborations will also be an important part of the role.?
Job Responsibilities:
? Lead development of predictive modeling of composites including micro-mechanics, FEA, and process simulations
? Identify and support external collaborations
? Development of new testing and analytical techniques
? Review and monitoring of patent/scientific literature relevant to the industry

? Expertise with finite element modeling techniquesBasic Qualifications:
